Mert Koçak is a human rights and gender training specialist as well as the editor of the podcast series “Sexuality and Gender in Turkey”. He holds an MSc degree in Human Rights from London School of Economics and Political Science and an MA degree in Gender Studies from Central European University. He is currently a PhD Candidate in the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology at Central European University. Mert has also worked in three international research institutes as research fellow: New Europe College (Bucharest), Institut für die Wissenschaften vom Menschen (Vienna) ve Centre français de recherche en sciences sociales (Prague). Mert has conducted various fieldworks in the area of gender studies. His latest fieldwork is about LGBTI+ refugees living in Turkey, which lasted for twenty months. Finally, as a part of his pedagogical training at Central European University, he was trained in how to produce a podcast and how to teach via podcast.
Nur is a monitoring and evaluation specialist. She holds two MA degrees: one in International Political Economy from Istanbul Bilgi University and the other in Political Sciences from Central European University. She is currently a PhD student of Urban Policy Planning and Local Governments at Middle East Technical University. Nur had worked in various local and international non-governmental organizations for four years as a monitoring and evaluation expert. She also has experience in monitoring and evaluation of adult learning and training. Nur has conducted the monitoring and evaluation activities of various projects that involved providing training sessions for refugees. Also, she has conducted the monitoring and evaluation activities of the Purple Certificate Program of Sabancı University Gender and Women’s Studies Center of Excellence for a semester, which aims to provide gender equality training for teachers from various fields.
